Our snow day tool was built for one stubborn problem. Every winter, millions of families across the United States and Canada wake up to the same question with almost no useful answer. Will school be closed? Will the buses run? Will the office go remote? Weather apps say ‘‘snow.’’ The school district or board says ‘‘we will let you know by 6 a.m.’’ And in between sits an entire household trying to plan a morning in the dark.

We built our snow day calculator and predictor to fill that gap.

Enter your ZIP code or postal code, and seconds later you have a clear percentage and a plain-English verdict drawn from live NOAA, National Weather Service, and Environment Canada data, regional closure patterns, and more than a decade of school district and school board closure history.

We do not promise magic. We promise math, data, and honesty.

Our community is broader than students hoping for a day off, though we love them too. Our snow day tool is used every winter by:

Our Approach

There are plenty of snow day calculators and predictors online. Most are either over-promising (97% accurate!) or under-built, which is essentially a generic weather forecast with a percentage stamped on top. We took a different route, designed around three principles.

  • Honest accuracy: We do not invent confidence we have not earned. Accuracy improves as a storm approaches, and we tell you that directly instead of slapping a single inflated number on every prediction.
  • Region-specific calibration: Closure thresholds in Buffalo are not closure thresholds in Atlanta, and the SCDSB in Barrie reads a storm very differently than the TDSB in Toronto. Our model adjusts for country, region, school type, and storm timing instead of applying one national formula.
  • No friction: No sign-ups, no emails, no paywalls, and no app to download. Every feature is free, forever, on any device.

Our Promise
